John Robertson has used the BDM data and supplemented it where possible to make it available via a search engine, at Shetland Roots. For more recent births, deaths and marriages Bruce Smith's website has an index at Births, Deaths and Marriages in Shetland. The John O' Groat Journal began publication before The Zetland Times, there were some early BDMs published there and they are available at Newspaper Indexes search under the people section.
